LVMPD detectives are seeking a violent armed robber. Two months after the robbery and shooting at a local 7-11, detectives are still looking for a break in the case. Today, police released dramatic surveillance video of the crime in progress.

CAUTION: VIDEO is GRAPHIC. At the very end of the surveillance clip, you will see the victim is shot in head, moments after the gunman exits the camera's view.

DATE: Thursday May 10, 2012 at approximately 1:13 am.

LOCATION: 7-11 store 998 Sierra Vista Drive.

CRIME: The suspect displayed a handgun in his right hand and attempted to rob one of the victims. That victim was able to get away into the store. The suspect then turned his attention toward the second victim and attempted to rob him. The second victim resisted and the suspect began walking away. The second victim retrieved his cell phone and appears to attempt to make a phone call. The suspect turned and fired one round striking the victim once in the head. The suspect fled the area in an unknown type vehicle.

SUSPECT: White or Hispanic Male, at least 6' tall with a slender build wearing a blue "LA Dodgers" baseball cap with white lettering, dark blue or black long sleeve jacket with possibly a white shirt under his jacket, dark blue or black pants and black and white athletic type shoes. The suspect was also smoking a cigarette during the robbery.

WEAPON: Chrome colored handgun held in suspect's right hand.

The surveillance video of the incident is very intense and depicts the victim being shot in the head by the suspect. The victim remains hospitalized and is expected to survive.

Situational awareness boss, could have survived if you didn't take your attention off the guy.

Kind of throws a wrench into that whole "fleeing criminals are innocent angels who should not be shot at" narrative. Sure. Until they decide to turn around and shoot you. But we're supposed to just take it on faith that they won't. Sure helped this poor guy, didn't it?
