Volkswagen GTI. The GTI is Volkswagens entry into the compact performance category, a category essentially started by the GTI three decades ago. By combining a powerful turbocharged engine and sport-tuned suspension with the practical design of a hatchback, the GTI helps driving enthusiasts put the FUN in functionality.

Welcome to our comprehensive Kelley Blue Book review of the Volkswagen GTI.

Based on the Volkswagen Rabbit, the GTI adds a performance edge with bigger wheels and tires, sport seats, more power and an edgier appearance. For more new car reviews, interviews and automotive news visit http://www.kbb.com today.

This is an MKV GTI, the one with the 2 strips you're referring to I believe is an MKVI

It all depends on what your taste is. If you use the DSG in an autocross, or a race track, the DSG is the obvious choice. however, its not as fun as a manual. Im still kicking myself for getting the DSG over a manual but if someone in my family other than my dad were to drive my car, they wouldnt be able to use a manual.

  • question i see some models that have two red stripes going across the grill but this one has only has one and under it whats the difference? thanks

  • How does the GTI weigh substantially more than its competitors? It is lighter than the Mazdaspeed3 and Impreza WRX. It's heavier than a Porsche Cayman or something but I don't think that's a real competitor since it costs twice as much.

  • @TheBarnicalbob you clearly never owned a mazda, mazda r reliable and more solidly built than honda, i own a mazda 6 and a s80 volvo both r durable cars, i dare you to get a volkswagen or audi no NOT go in a shop in 3 months except for servicing & oil change!!!

  • I just bought one of these yesterday...and I must say, it is one of the best cars I've ever driven. Im coming from a 2006 subaru impreza....I got a full leather, climate controlled GTI, so the quality of the build is way up there.

  • Lol yea the mazda has more hp but mazdas are in the shop alot more because of their shitty build, thoes things fall apart as soon as you get it off the lot

  • always liked the looks of these

  • @gxsrbaby what other car would you buy?

  • @bmor616 Insurance companies consider this a sports car...so its not gonna be cheap, especially for a 16 year old that just start driving
