Dead Rising Perfect Run 10-8: The Final Hours

With twelve hours left to go before Ed gets back to the mall, you're free to do as you see fit. There's a new cutscene if you go back to Carlito's Hideout now, which you apparently must see if you're going for Ending A, but otherwise, there's nothing to do but go out there and kill. Now is a pretty good time to go for various Achievements, such as Zombie Killer, Perfect Gunner, Stunt Rider, Stunt Driver, or Gourmet.

With that in mind, this video is mostly about the hour or so running up to the 10 AM deadline, when you must talk to Isabela if you want Ending A, the "true ending." At 10 AM, the soldiers withdraw from the mall entirely. Now it's all over but the shouting.

It's worth talking about the soldiers. They're usually distracted by the zombies, allowing you to slip by with minimal confrontation. If such is not the case, their critical mistake is that they tend to want to close to a certain range before opening fire. This is your opportunity to either meet them halfway and use Disembowel, or rush them down with chainsaw swinging.

If you don't have the chainsaw, a standard cleaver will take a soldier down in three hits, while a sword, katana, or Larry's meat cleaver will drop a soldier in two. At long range, you can use the machine guns the soldiers drop to take them out, but it takes roughly half the clip to do so, because this is a Japanese video game and as such is set in a universe where bullets are made from styrofoam.

It's a very good idea, even if you've mastered the knack of killing soldiers, to carry more food than you think you'll need during this part of the game. They have a knack for appearing out of nowhere.

I would recommend, if you are not yet at level 50--and following this walkthrough, you should have earned somewhere between three and a half and four million PP by now, so you're close if not quite there--running into and out of the supermarket to massacre soldiers and farm the 5,000 point bonus.
