I'm rather tired today, but wanted to finish, get done and upload this review and longplay for one of my favourite games on the Amstrad - HOSTAGES! Or Operation Jupiter as it was known in France.

2 parts to this video, no way could I fit it in the 10min YouTube time limit :)

Part 1 of 2.

  • Ther video seems to freeze at 3:31... is it normal ?

Yet this game looks great, I like the intro.

  • @macdeath69 I think it was just a temporary YouTube blip ... it works ok for me :)

  • A decent game for the CPC and crappy for the Amiga and Atari ST.

  • @alex76gr Yea I watched the Amiga version later as I said to Cholo, you expect a lot more from a system like the Amiga. Apparently it had a sequel called Alcatraz that was a lot lot better

  • I think it may have been better although were English to have put the French original on instead. :P

  • @wrestletube1 Sorry which was better? Don't quite follow?

  • Until now, I never thought a version other than the NES port I have ("Rescue: The Embassy Mission") existed. This is pretty awesome. :D

  • Love music on Amiga version but this version for CPC is not bad at all. Thanks for video

  • @CholoCPC Yea I later saw the Amiga version and surprised how close they are, and you know what - I think the Amstrad version just nudges it!

  • @XFile2708 Cheers bud! If you can I'd search down the 128k disk version just to cut down on the loading times on cassette, but anyway its not really a multi-load just the 2nd section you have to reload - and if you die on it you can replay it multiple times without having to reload the first section.

  • Superb stuff matey - I'd forgotten about this gem on the Amstrad... added it onto my 'wanted' list :D

  • Only had this on Amiga back in ye olde days, and im a bit sad because i missed out playing the amstrad version. Comparing the amiga and amstrad versions its amazing to see how close they really are. Sure the amiga has some advantages, but there are parts in the amstrad version i think is better done. Infogrames really had some well made games back then (ad you mentioned Norht & South rocks too).
