I HAVE THE SOLUTION! but it just depends on how messed up your ipod is. So, i just had my ipod and like many of you guys, it just went blank. So i kinda start messing with it and next thing you know...it comes back on and it stayed on. but it still had the lines from before. #So here it is...try squeezing the ipod like firmly enough to where you can feel something, then restart by holding the center and the menu button. but you might have to do this every time you start your ipod. GOOD LUCK! :)

i have sort of the same problem..i use my ipod to help me sleep-so last nigh, i put my headphones in and everything was fine..then when i woke up, i switched it back on and the screen was white with black/red/green etc lines going down it. so i reset it and it did the same-then the lines just dissapeared and the screen whent completely blank,i do usually lay ontop of it whilst i sleep but ive done this for the 4yrs ive had it-has my weight broke the screen or is it just getting old?please help?

@ejoel92XD 4th generation was released september 2008, so it's over 4 years old (for me atleast). i will get a new one cause i have no idea how much will the repairing cost and i would like to get a new one soon so i recommend doing the same :)

i have the same problem but yeah mine doesnt make the sound or anything. once i let it be a few days and it worked for like 5mins and then it went white again. also it has worked like without the screen, music works but you have to press randomly cause the screen is white:D it doesnt work every time. yeah but this ipod is atleast 4 years old so i better get a new one cause i have used this ipod a lot...
