I have updated my GPU's Drivers, and I just upgraded to Win7 Ultimate 64bit. Imma check it out soon to see.

Well I turn off my Aero b/c i don't mind if it is there. And yes good point update your drivers never thought of that.

For Vista Aero and other visual effects turn off automatically when start a game. Your problem could be be drivers. Your laptop should be able to play the game at higher settings with a 9800m GTS.

Yeah I have same exact specs and one of my CPUs is 2.27GHz. But I have Vista Home Buisness Edition 64bit. I guess Win7 is better? I'll look into win7, also how do you turn off the visual effects? Sorry for asking so many questions.

do you have the same computer i do? the Gateway P-7805u FX Laptop? There are different types of this laptop make sure you have the one with 2.26ghz dual core processor, 9800m gts graphics card and 4gb of DDR3 RAM. If you have all those same specs then maybe it depends on the operating system you are using i am using windows 7 RC build 7100. O yeah I just thought of something. turn off your visual effects on windows.

How do you play it on settings like that, even on optimal settings I have to down the resolution to 800x600 to get no lag. I have nothing in the background running except AVG and Steam

without fraps (the screen recording program) the fps is about 50-60 with 1440x900 resolution and max settings.(pretty good frame rate)

but with fraps I play on 1280x720 resolution and high settings (one notch down from the highest) with about 30-35 fps (which is kinda hard to play on but possible) sometimes it can jump to like 40, but it can also spike down to 20(rarely)

I also have like no programs running in the background, with the exception of steam and virus protection.

and what settings is that on, cause I wanna make sure it isn't laggy as hell.
