Japan Quiet Life (Extended Version) Taken from the 12 inch single.

Words and Music David Sylvian
Audio Copyright: Sony Music Entertainment

Boys, now the times are changing
The going could get rough
Boys, would that ever cross your mind
Boys, are you contemplating moving out somewhere
Boys, will you ever find the time

Here we are stranded
Somehow it seems the same
Beware, here comes the quiet life again

Boys, now the country's only miles away from here
Boys, do you recognize the signs
Boys, when these driving hands push against the tracks
Boys, it's too late to wonder why

Here we are stranded
Somehow it seems the same
Beware, here comes the quiet life again

As you turn to leave
Never looking back
Will you think of me?
If you ever, could it ever stop

By all means look for the cheapest download but please buy music legally. Otherwise great music like this will not get recorded.

  • RIP MK first of all

I am not a musician but have loved his stuff since being a 12 yr old and a cousin playing Japan to me.

In all the music I have enjoyed I have never heard the bass played the way he did.

    Let alone his other talents.

    One of the greats.

  • @godisatb303 There's a session musician called Pino Palladino who plays the bass a little like MK, he has his own style, as you'd expect from a session musician. Look him up, he's on plenty of stuff from the 80's.

  • Sick tune...

    I've only started listening to this band...But i like what i hear ; )

GOD I LOVE GREAT MUSIC...WEIRD AND WONDERFUL.

YA JUST DON'T HEAR IT THESE DAYS...

  • @HitchHikersBlues

Japan are worth spending time getting to know. Each album is unique and presents an aural landscape unlike anything else in the 80's... or now for that matter. Check out Japan's 'Nightporter' and Sylvian's duet with Sakomoto 'Forbidden Colours'- both also on my channel.

  • R I P MICK

  • @CandyflossAngel

Mick Karn, a genuine creative force, influential, an original. Many players come and go but very few will leave the kind of mark on music that Mick has left. A musicians' musician.

He will be deeply missed by all of us who recognise his genius, and I do not use that word lightly.

"The width of a room that can hold so much pleasure inside ... Nightporters slip away. "

  • Don't forget Mick's work with Peter Murphy...Dalis Car!

  • Ahhh, analogue sequencers....:)

  • Wow, does this bring back memories... The '80s... long, cold winter nights, eclectic parties with all my "weird" friends... Eight high school seniors in a VW Golf with this very song blasting from the speakers...

  • I had just record,,,

  • Another group that I would have never heard of if it wasnt for my bezzy mates elder sister Julie. Back in the late 70's/early 80's,we would be sat in my mates bedroom and through the wall would come these terrific tunes...Japan,Joy Division,Magazine,Depeche Mode,Duran Duran etc. etc......Julie,I owe you so much for introducing me to all these fantastic groups.

  • yes. nice.
