What this speech is really saying is that the real crisis is that people now build a clinic in Guatemala not to improve the wellbeing of Guatemalans, but to add it to their college application. His speech has nothing to do with narcissism. He says "you're not special, because everyone is." People see the first part and get fired up this way or that, missing the point of the speech. The thing he really wants you to get is this: Do what you do because you believe in it and because it fulfills you.

What an amazing lesson. Remember you are special, just like everyone else.

All right! We are back to the real topic of this forum - grammar. Participles act as adjectives, not as adverbs. Adjectives modify nouns or noun phrases; adverbs modify verbs etc. BTW 'lookup' is a noun, so you should have said 'look up'. You seem like an addled millennial with nothing better to do than seek trivial arguments to make yourself feel smart or important.

I gave you the definition, do not tell me it cannot act as an adverb, when a participle is a form of a verb that modifes a noun or noun phrase. Please, lookup the definition of an adverb or just read the comment.

This, or some variant of it, should be mandatory for every commencement speech.
