WadoRyu Kata: Chinto

Masahiro Maruyama, Wado Ryu Renmei member
This video was shot at the JKF 38th Tokyo Karate Athlete Championships 2008.
Maruyama place best 16 out of 93 in the High School Boy's Kata division.
First 2 rounds he won with this Chinto. Third he lost with Wanshu - see that kata video on KenzenJapan.

Maruyama did win 1st place in the 4th Grade Boy's Kata (10yrs old), All-Japan National Elementary Championships 2001! His winning kata was Wanshu, the first time I've seen a Wado kata listed as the winning kata in an open JKF tournament, let alone a JKF Nationals!

@majin2912 the main precept in wado-ryu is tai sabaki. Very similar to aikido actually, in that regard.

Nice but I thought the main precept of Wado was higher stances. Looks at times like he's going into a horse stance....just curious. In Goju they elect to use the sumo stance as opposed to the horse stance which is more Shotokan in it's origin.
