queen of the night aria, Feb 2006

from the Magic Flute-----Thanks for the many comments.Kumara only worked on this song for 3 months, sang it live in front of an audience on four occasions.You must remember that she was only 15 when this was recorded . Her teachers,and us her parents, agreed to let her go ahead with itas she really loves to challenge herself.However,once she'd done it she agreed to continue working on her regular voice training which does not include this, or the Villa Lobos ,piece. She now understands her limitations and all the areas she needs to work on. The aria is too dramatic and in order, for a 15 year old to render the piece, she has to push or darken the voice which is very dangerous. In fact, 2 years later, she is still stuck with all those heavy arias and sound like a 35 year old. So, when she gets 35, what age is she gonna sound like?

A young voice has to develop verticaly first. Light and souple, never dramatic. Best way to start wobbling very early. And she has a lot of pich problems which is not good at 17...

Coloratura repotoire at 15....OMFG Insane, my singing teacher would have a fit!!!!!! And he made me do Richard Strauss when I was 16!!!!!
