  • this is it, hands down. i've toned up the colors on old pictures of clapton to the proper range using other references in the pictures to try and settle the old debate. it is nothing like the bright bright ocean blue design with the light purple on the top horn that most dealers insist on. anyone who's seen the fool's work could tell that.

you've made a beautiful example of how the deep reds in the *dark purple* look *brown* in shade. this is psychedelic. the others are just dead tacky.

  • @baxterbather ...thanks,.....ive tried ny best and i went to look at the old films and it brown despite what 'experts ' keep saying.... thanks again..:)

  • @TheMelodyman like fuck it was ,the strat has the sustain of a banjo!

  • One of the most iconic guitars ever. Gorgeous.

    I want one - but tragically, I'm piss-poor....;o)

  • Being totally into this type of art, I painted my 'experimenter's' Hondo axe w designs of my own manner, w & The Fool's artwork (& this specific guitar) in mind. Originally, I used just acrylics, but recently added on a layer of holographic/prismatic paper collaging to enhance yon axe. It does amazing things when viewed in dim light.

Did some subsequent owner of the original put some furniture-type Varathane over it, & 'browned' the design out?

  • Original woman tone was done on a strats front pickup..

  • I have a poster of the original fool guitar when guitar world mag was putting them in as centerfolds

  • can you make me one?

or do you have a website

  • Another interesting note is the bridge pickup was overwound a few turns for a hotter sound, that may have been a secret to the "woman tone"

  • Jackie Lomax was the guy that sold it to him for $500.00 He needed money real bad(For drugs presumibly)and Todd loved the guitar and forked over the cash. This is the string of people according to a recent Todd Rundgren interview.

Eric Clapton gave it to Paul Kossof, Paul gave it to George Harrision, George gave it to Jackie Lomax, Jackie sold it to Todd and he sold it to an anonymous person 30 years later.
