In this, the first chapter in a ten part series, Jack W. Plunkett introduces the influences in population that will shape the future. This video discusses future trends from chapter One of Plunkett's new book, The Next Boom: What you Absolutely, Positively Have to Know About the World between Now and 2025: An aging Baby Boomer segment will test the strength of our healthcare system. The demographics of the United States are going to change significantly through growth of the Hispanic segment, a high new birth rate, immigration and aging Baby Boomers. Jack W. Plunkett explains how America's growing population gives it a significant economic advantage over other industrialized nations. The Next Boom, released in January 2011, will be available in both hard cover and ebook format, and will be available to purchase at Amazon.com , Plunkett Research, Ltd., and other fine book sellers worldwide.

Jack:
I don't get it, you say that the U.S. population is growing by 2.8 million a year, but then state that there are 1.5 million immigrants + 4-5 million new births. What is happening to all of those babies?

@jjhowelllaw Thanks for asking. The difference is the number of deaths. Annual population growth equals births plus net immigration minus deaths.
