Cheap press made from a pallet. At the end the battery dies. I was saying "I've discovered that the more pressure I try to get the more expensive the press becomes".

  • Hi, another quick way which I found half useful was to get a long piece of plastic bathroom type waste pipe. Fill it and compress, then push thru! Just cut it to size after. It's simple a less messy, just use Wooden pole to compress... May help but cheers anyway

  • @Colwray1 You see, this is what YouTube is about...sharing ideas. I have used a pipe but never thought of doing a big plug and cutting it. I'll give that a go. Thanks for the tip.

    Best Wishes, Brendan.

  • for the amount of time and hassle and the warmth you actually get back it's just not worth it!!

  • @Colwray1 If I could dry them quickly it would be worth it but that's the big issue for us Northern climes folk. Obviously this is just me throwing out ideas but, with efficient compression and drying, it could be worthwhile. This Spring I am going to build a soda can dehydrator to see if that speeds drying up much and try to produce a good volume of briquettes. Come Winter I will record burn time to see if I would be better just taking the man-hour production money and buying coal.

  • Couldnt you use a lever that you could apply your body weight too [sit on it] it would only have to be maybe 5 feet long hmmmm then youd have to fix the block to the ground.....forget what i just said im going back to the drawing board lol, nice video by the way

  • @ukgardener1 Have you been spying on me? I had a lever built and then discovered I needed the press to sit on a base the same length as the lever to stop it tipping towards me when I leaned on it (basic physics that I forgot in my rush to build). I am working on the Mk2 version now but it's cold and wet and horrible outside so I'd say nothing will be done until Spring. However, there will be a video.

Thanks for your input. Best Wishes, Brendan.

  • Very clever! This is wonderful!

  • No worries, give it a try see what you think ;-)

  • THANKS MATE

  • cool going to get hubby to make one ;.)

  • @baconsoda

:~ Ive not been spying honestly haha. i had a thought of adding to the design you already have though, when you put the piston block into the frame could you put it on its side and use a door to apply the extra pressure needed. If you can get your body weight plus the added pressure of pushing with your legs instead of just using body weight, im sure my drawing board has ran out of batteries
