  • Waylona and Willie--what a pair. Waylon was absolutely red hot on this one. He was living it. The CD liner says that Waylon, Willie, and Kris each visited Willie's recording studio separately to help create a CD of Billy Joe Shaver's songs and it took almost a decade to put it all together. I think it is a "must have" CD for any Waylon and Willie fans and it is a great reminder about the contribution of Billy Joe Shaver's songs to country music.

  • @sandladyvb Thanks for your comment. I agree, any fan should seriously have this in their collection. I read the liner notes and was aware of the timeline and production of the album. I do have to say Billy joe was actually living it as he came up with the song while he was actually in jail in Matamoros, like every song he has written, Billy Joe lived it. Not a fake bone in his body. Rather sad that it was the last project his son Eddy had his hands on.

  • I am not surprised that Billy Joe wrote the song based on his actual experience in Matamoros! Yes, I definitely hear Eddy Shaver's guitar licks on the CD and can't help but think how sad it is that he cut his life short by od'ing on drugs. Billy Joe's vocals were also really great on this CD. I didn't know this CD existed and found it quite by accident thanks to Teddie's posts on You Tube.

  • @sandladyvb Thanks to teddie for sharing. I really like this album because each song is such a different take from what we are used to hearing as for as recrodings of the song. Yes, it's very sad about Eddy. how somoene with such an incredible talent would feel the need to seek comfort in drugs to escape whatever he was dealing with. he was an absloutely incredible guitarists who had so much to offer. Billy Joe has sure been dealt some hardships in his life.

  • Was lucky enough to know Billy Joe and Eddy. Not best friends but always talk to me when I ran across them. Both of them signed my cassette of "Live Forever".

  • @CashandMe1 I don't know why it says your comment is removed because it shows up on my comment page but when I tried to reply, it says it is removed. Nevertheless, I'd like to acknowledge your thanks to teddie also for directing folks to listen to this great album.
