@thc00250 I agree. As do I.

Just so some of you know what the comment is saying:
Classic New Year's Miyagi Mitio "Spring Sea" is.
The koto and shakuhachi contest.
Image, and the sunrise (which is a motif of the song) Sea Pictures TOMONOURA pictures as an image of early spring (such as rice cakes and New Year dishes and Kadomatsu) chose New Year properly visualize pictures (really suitable I'm sorry.)
I hope you enjoy.
Performance:
Koto) Miyagi Kiyoko

wow...Mr. Miyagi is a really good composer in addition to being a good sensei who honks peoples' noses...

Miyagi Kiyoko is the koto player who's a niece of the composer Miyagi MIchiyo. I like her interpretation better than the composer's himself who was very technically correct but, from my point of view, lacks of warmth. The shakuhachi flutist is Reibo Aoki who I do not know ([cause I'm a koto player and not shakuhachi player...) but surely one of the kind!

This is one of the most spirited renditions of this song I've yet heard. I like the sound of the wooden flute too. Who plays it? Does anyone know?
-
This is GAGAKU(雅楽) music. 雅(miyabi) means tastefull and traditional. 楽(gaku) means music.
The instrument which is like a guiter is 琴(koto). The instrument which resembles a flute is 尺八(syakuhachi).
They are traditional japanese musical instruments.
With another arrengement, 笙(syou) joins them.
They make mistical and mystic air.
