Positive Psychology Responses to Depression: Part 4 - Protective Factors

In looking at what causes depression, Dr Chris Johnstone, (author of Find Your Power, a toolkit for resilience and positive change), introduces the 3P's of Predisposing Factors, Precipitating or Trigger Factors, and Perpetuating Factors. To protect ourselves from the risk of depression, we can use Protective Factors and Protective Processes such as the Self-Help SSRI's (based on applying Strategies, Strengths, Resources and Insights). This talk was part of the Bristol Happiness Lectures looking at climbing out of pits of low mood, increasing happiness and reducing our risk of depression.
