this is my son and this video shows how hard it is sometimes to trying to communicate with a verbal autistic child, that doesnt want to be bothered at all and it seems like he doesnt listen, but he understands everything, its just too much for him to pay attention to. so as a parent all u can do is repeat and repeat and try it over and over again, until he answers.

  • What you need to do is click your fingers or hand flap like him and he will then get interested. This is called stimming and also being on the same wave length as your Son. Also its best to teach him some kind of sign language worked for my friend who had an Autistic Son and now he signs her. Hugs, Steve

  • this is so familiar. My daughter tunes me out too - she hears me but will not respond many, many times.

  • happened constantly - the children would clearly hear me, even make eye contact with me, but they would either start another task or act like they'd never heard me at all. It turned out being a great experience, though a bit challenging. I'll never forget it.

  • At my high school, we have to do twenty hours of community service at any of a number of place around Columbus, GA. I'm a snior, and I signed up super late, even after the freshmen. I was supposed to sign up to do work over the summer because we have a senior project to do, too. One of the last place left was Easter Seals. I had no idea what the place was, but I just went with it. I found out it was an educational facility for children with autism. During my time there, instance like these
