That's not the head that sticks out. Bot flies breathe through their butts.

Agreed.
I guess doctors might not recommend tweezers for people because they could easily squish the fly, and leave half of it in the wound.

maybe there's different ways to do it. and i would personally use tweezers and gently pull it, but this video shows u can carefully squeeze it in that way too. both effective.

Glooooooooves!! :D

If tweezers are not advised, why do doctors use them during botfly extractions?

Oh that was so funny! The little girl had fluid from the dog's irritated skin where a parasite was hit you face ans most likely her mucous membranes where an infection can occur! OMG SO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
FINALLY someone who decided to use gloves!!

Damn, those train tracks you live by must be annoying.

@bondyspice you apparently don't know anything about bot flies because tweezers are recommended. You grab the larva from the tip to avoid it from being split. All you did with the paper towel was tugged and pulled at the pup's fur.

i knew shit was about to go down when that evil music played.. then BAM! little girl copped it in the face.
Why in the hell didn't they use tweezers instead of a paper towel? Poor dog!

@emilie1031 Tweezers are not advised because you can pinch the bot fly in half, leaving the dead carcass in the dog. It's the same concept as removing a tick. Thanks for commenting.

How were you able to spot these on the dog?

The dog was licking his back a lot. We looked at the spot and it looked irritated and we could feel something lumpy beneath the skin. And, there was a small hole in the skin.
