This elevator was built with the original building in 1964. The buttons were updated in the early 1980s with the round dover buttons that were popular during that time. Then they added an emergency phone and fire service and once again updated the buttons and electronic controls on this elevator in 2005. Ever since they did that update, there are sometimes problems with the doors in that when they close, the elevator does not sense it and they open back. Basically once the doors close, they are supposed to remain closed until a floor is selected. To get it to work I just hit the door reset button and that fixed the problem. The pump motor is original.

  • Is that in a kitchen and how come it takes forever to move? Is it because its a really old Dover?

  • Yep it is in a cafeteria. It takes so long due to a malfunction with the door system.

  • You have to hold your floor down on a freight elevator to get it to move have you tried it?

  • Not on this one. The controller was modernized to a single push button. On this one you select the floor and hold the door close. The malfunction is that the controller takes a while for it to engage the door lock and that is what prevents the elevator from moving.

  • Where is this elevator located, and what Building?

  • Jonesboro Arkansas.

  • Why has it got a malfunction with the system?

  • I'm an elevator fan but always a little too scared to ride on this beast. Also, it seems like I remember a button labled "S" on the control panel. I always thought it allowed access to another basement or something. Probably just my imagination though.

  • Which State Studient Union, and What City and State?

  • A-State Student Union.
