No, al kidding aside, this guy knows his shit. Evidently better than you. I too find it a shame he uses tape, but it has it's purpose, considering drummers have been using tape since ages. And even drumming giants like Ndugu do. But I guess you know better than a professional drummer who's been at it for over 40 years huh?

Respond to this video... Also I am sure in all your wisdom you would realise the tape on the fat boy is compensating for the fact that shallower snare has a CS Dot head on it was as the deeper drum appear to be just a regular Ambassador. But of course you would know that. You're a gun session drummer that's been playing with the biggest artists in the world for over 40 years right?

scott: ndugu does not need the full capacity of a solid timber tonal snare. which is what i do. he is only interested in getting the sound up to the microphone which is why the snare is so heavily 'gated' by using gaffer tape.
He is a drummer's drummer whose career includes the greatest artists of all time. Not for him to follow the chop freaks when fusion hit. a seriously authentic voice. a master of feel and taste. Cheers.
