@JGFallen That's true, but here's the thing. In countries like Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia, even though the native language is not English so much of the local music is in English anyway, that it makes sense to sing in English (songs of international artists too). Most of the participants sing in English after the show. In France and Spain it's pretty much half and half with the contestants singing in their language afterwards. In Israel, however, they only sing in Hebrew. It depends.

@JGFallen It's actually tends to be a problem in Greece. Unlike many other European countries, there's very little locally produced English language music, which renders performing on a talent show in English useless, as it makes it hard to translate your "character" on the show, singing in English, into Greek language music. Notice that most of the really successful participants in Greek talent shows over the years sung mainly Greek music on the shows they were on.
