Balitang America reports on Rina Lopez-Bautista, president and founder of Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) at the 59th Annual United Nations (UN) Department of Public Information (DPI) and Non-Government Organization Conference in New York. She shared with over 2,000 conference delegates her experience in using science and technology for advancing educational goals.
KCFI provides the technology (cable and wireless) for free access to its curriculum-based channel called the Knowledge Channel. It has provided the technology to close to 2,000 schools covering only 4% of the country's needs. Knowledge Channel is available nationwide from Itbayat, Batanes down to the southernmost municipality of Sitangkay, Tawi Tawi.
The UN invitation clearly recognizes the profound impact of Lopez-Bautista's Knowledge Channel project on her target beneficiaries in the Philippine countryside.
