Yosemite hiking is a very personal experience! There is always a new trail to explore. But many hikers have a short stay in the park and like a quick day hike in the sierras. They also like hikes without a backpack to slow them down. One of these hikes is to Mount Hoffmann.

Mount Hoffmann is a peak in the center of Yosemite National Park. It rises above May Lake to a altitude of 10,855 ft . Many hikers day hike the 6 miles, each way ( 12.6 miles round trip) from Hwy 120 .The mountain is named after the cartographer Charles F. Hoffmann, who was part of the California Geological Survey of the Sierra Nevada .He helped explore the Sierra Nevada of California, from 1860 through 1870, and 1873 through 1874

May Lake is a lake in Yosemite National Park high country There is also a High Sierra Camp where backpackers can stay in tent cabins located near the lake. There is a 1.2 mile hike to May Lake is from a parking area off east Hwy 120.
