if by "take it seriously" you mean "treat it as the truth with no questions asked" then people will be moved by it, in the same way as if i wrote "you make bald people bald with your greed" and people took it as truth with no questions asked then they would be moved by it.
If you mean read it as an extract of the bestselling book of all time then it isn't a particularly moving passage.
