For all those who are either hating or loving it - either way - extremes do not suit and are never (well hardly ever) good!! So ( i liked and apreciated it) it would seem robotic because it has no empathetic value!! yes - the moves are antiquated and do not have the same effect on us as back then they would have - so instead of his focus on the artistry and moves - which I THINK was flawless throughout this performance - he was incredibly athletic and in harmony with the audience - right?
joliehm, the "robot" as you call him, had the crowd in a frenzy in the original Kennedy Center debut which i saw on videotape. I did not believe such a magnificent response could be replicated but then i got to Corella perform this again at Lincoln Center in 2000. He was yet more stunning and the crowd gave the most passionate ovation imaginable. This video does not do justice to what the crowds experienced.
