What happened in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead WAS NOT A WAR BUT A MASSACRE, a massacre of a defenceless, imprisoned and besieged civilian population. The IOF air assault (in the first of 3 weeks) dropped bombs around the clock hitting homes, hospitals, ambulances, UN & Red Cross outposts & compounds, schools, universities & government buildings, with the borders closed & NO WHERE in Gaza to seek refuge, "it was like shooting fish in a barrel". 1400 murdered (358 were children) with kill ratios of 4/5 being civilians + over 5 thousands seriously injured. For every israeli soldier killed 10 (5 were from friendly fire) 100 Palestinians were killed, for every israeli civilian killed (3) 400 Palestinian civilians were murdered. These are not the statistics of war, it was GENOCIDE PURE & SIMPLE. Those calling it a war are wittingly or unwittingly being agents of proper-gander.

  • God bless you Norman! Why is the world so indifferent to these facts? When will the day come for innocent Palestine people suffering from the bloody oppression.

  • But I, as Finkelstein (who is a Jew by the way), through what I've seen, I'm not concerned to be called anti-semitic anymore for the simple fact that I criticize Israel. There are so many Israelis that, would they be Germans in the 1930s and 1940s would behave like the Nazis, that I don't have any problem anymore about blaming most of the Jews in Israel (those who voted for Sharon and Netanyahu) for Apartheid, ethnic cleansing, unjustified warfare and genocide. Like it or not!

  • And he's still missing to mention what is his position against other so many injustices on Earth that are still occurring (and I'll dismiss Bosnia, since it's over for about 15 years)... I'd like to listen from him about the case of the Tutsis and (though they were the perpetrators of the genocide) of the Hutus in Congo, which has been the biggest genocide phenomenon in the 2000s. And concerning to the Arabs, I'd like to hear from him about the treatment that the Copts are having in Egypt.

  • I usually agree with Finkelstein, and I agree with him now partly (because Hamas is not so innocent). I think that he, whatever the institutions have made to him, is the kind of guy that is going to figure in history. As an anti-apartheid South Africa when there was apartheid, I'd like to compare him with Helen Ziller. But he's still missing to mention the persecutions of the Jews in Arab countries after 1948...

  • The apples/oranges comparison is skewed and disingenuous. Can’t see how they equate. And GW is off point.

NF is an Jewish-American academic. 1 man. Surely the glorious and valid might of Israel should be able to withstand the non-valid force of a 1 man campaign? Whatever. It amuses me that a so-called “democracy” bans free speech as “a matter of protocol.” Bunch of fearful hypocrites. What exactly does NF say that you think should be suppressed?

  • @audience4u2 I personally wouldn't care where he goes, but I guess the Israelis do not want to let him, which would give him validity or allow him to run his campaign in Israel.

This is just a matter of protocol, just like Geert Wilders is a persona non grata in some countries. Do you also think that Geert should be allowed into all countries so his extreme views could be debated?

  • @MiddleEastInterp It's curious that NF is officially banned from entering Israel. Why not just let him in and debate him in public and shoot down all his "faulty logic" and "bad facts" for all to see, and thereby document once and for all that NF has no credibility? Such a simple task should be easy for a government bearing the mantle of truth and justice one would think.

  • Oh, and Norm rules.
