Watching 1080p on a 600p screen is utterly pointless anyway, but its nice to see theres a slight difference.
It should be able to run 720p easily when configured properly. So obviously have Linux or WinXP on it and configure VLC to use any form of hardware hooking of the Intel "GPU".
Simply opening the box and thinking thats ok is a giant mistake and a waste of your money. These things suck out of the box, hard.

@BradLinder is the playback for youtube on the 1000HE choppy or smooth?

hi una pregunta yo cuando veo video hd 720p esta como lento el video que tengo que hacer para mirar bien el hd
saludos

How about just a regular DVD playback for a plane ride or something? And how is the full screen, even more choppy?

If you want you can use Youtube Downloader to download the MP4 file directly from youtube then play it inside an efficient player like KMP or MPC. :)

Using the combination of Core AVC (codec) Haali Media Renderer and KMPlayer, I've managed to get my eee 1000H to play 1080p h264 media almost flawlessly. I was kind of surprised as last year I tried a pretty similar set up and it could only play 720!

everybody, run for your life!

1080p is fine for desktops or even laptops but on netbooks its playback is irrelevant, unless you were using video out to a 1080p monitor.
720p is probably the best bet, especially considering netbooks have the standard 1024x600 screen, anything more than 720p is a waste.
To be honest though on my netbook I prefer videos at 624x352 with 1024-1512kbps bitrate. they look great. Remember the screen is only 10" so you can get away with a lower resolution, especially with higher bitrate.

Get Lenovo S12 with Via nano if u want to play HD videos :-).

I get really tired of idiots posting this kind of crap, you'd think they might just do a little research on how to run these machines instead of opening the box, and just switching it on. The 1000he is a gr8 little computer and runs netflix and DVd movies flawlessly.

The point wasn't to show web video or DVD playback, but 1080p HD video playback. Both of these machines are perfectly capable of playing standard definition video or web video just fine. Neither is really up to the task of handling 1080p video, but the 1000HE is *slightly* better at it than the 1000H.

Did you used the normal high performence of 1.66 ghz at the 1000he or did you overlocked it to 1,75 with super high performance.???
If not, could you make the test once more...
Maybe the 1000he gets a little better?

Both models are running in Super High Performance mode, which means 1.75GHz on the 1000HE and 1.7GHz on the Eee PC 1000H.
