  • On hindsight, you make a very good case against potential real-life "Matrixes", Mr. Franz. I'm all for improving human races, but frankly, I begin to question the prospect of virtual realities as viable alternatives to the bleak reality which we live in.

Using the red and blue pill from the Matrix as an analogy in this case, would we rather choose blissful ignorance in a shell or live with the painful truth in reality?

  • that's a personal choice. the existence of personal choice allows the possibility of free will. wouldn't it always be best to have the option to choose?

    i choose free will +

  • Too literal. I believe avatar in the movie has nothing to do with a human/animal mix being a lesser species than human, but an "avatar" now means a representation of yourself. Which is exactly what their avatar bodies were.

  • @bradkrit

you're right. it is a metaphor for psychology. the "anima" = Freud's id. the lower animal drives and unconscious repressions find an outlet for expression through the use of avatars.

also, i haven't actually watched this film. the video is more of a trend watching piece.

  • Something to think about: Science -fiction author H.G. Wells envisioned an almost mindless, passive society in his very first novel of 1895...'The Time Machine'...in which the Utopian world of the far future is endangered by the mutant, mechanized race of cannibalistic hybrids of the subterranean environments; creatures who, at one time in the past were, themselves, human...but degraded into lower life forms. Take a long, close look at today's global civilizations... humanity on the wane.

  • That’s my idea of 3D all around fun! Not a single image in front where they only solved the headache issues of red and blue filters.

The sound was more well almost 3D! This film should have used discrete overhead surround and below surround to create an even more realistic Dolby listening experience but all they do now with Dolby7.1 is add extra channels to output to the existing surrounds already fitted in the cinema. Fine it works but what of height surround and below surround?

  • Picture the opening “I was flying” now if only you had independent images projected on sidewalls rear wall floor celing and of course the front, you’d be looking downwards while looking upwards and seeing the rest of the clouds and behind you as you see the images in moving away. The outer-space scene would work great with star field all around while looking at black and the images of Pando or what ever the hell its called will move along the sidewalls to the front of the screen.

  • Now that looks more like the Avatar at 1:24 if only Cameron stuck with that design the film would have grossed an extra £$1billion!

  • I’ve seen just about every other James Cameron film at the cinema. See Avatar in 3D no way, absolutely not! It’s the one film I hate on bluray its only ever been watched fully once! The top region1 DVD that had more playing time was Leviathan 1989 because its so fucking cheesy turkey that doesn’t overrun into fucking almost 3hours of Dances of Avatars in outer fucking space!

  • Now we know front projection can’t be done from the front to beam the image on the back wall, will see the projection light! So fail! It can’t be done form any other angle for sides above and below? It can be done from rear projection all-around! But what of the powerful sound system?

The speakers will be seen if projected from behind as black objects behind the transparent screen.

So that won't work! 3D will remain front and focal for many more years, not interested in it!

  • Did you say reality? 3D is above below side to side and behind! Oh not forgetting in front! That’s 3D! Avatar has only taken away the headache issues of red and blue filters. Avatar is still only a front focal image with depth of field nothing more and nothing less. 3D waste of time! If your going to make it as millstone in technical achievement you might as well go the whole distance.

  • Hey! Remeber when Captain Kirk beemed down and fucked that green bitch? Im not racist, but if the chick is green, there is something usually wrong with da puddy. But he didn't catch anything! AND he took his giant space ship off to do more alien chicks! I'm just saying. Nothing wrong with tappen that alien booty!

  • YONNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
