I was right near the flight line when those 3 planes taxiied out to the runway. It was really loud too. It must be those old, loud, turbojet engines. This video made me think "This must be what 1940s/1950s cold war airfields must've been like.". As they taxiied away from me I felt the heat from the jet exhausts blowing towards me. Not long after take off, the Vampire, which is from 1947 and one of the world's oldest flying jet planes, had engine trouble, tried to turn back to land, and belly landed 75 feet from the runway without explosion. Nobody died. I did not actually see this happen or get it on video however.
