The traditional Hungarian Yurt was made with wool covering over hardwood post.

Horses were used to trample the wool to create 'nemez' - very hard, compact, and about an inch thick... that with the natural oils repelled the rain and kept thing very warm.

Unfortunately you can only see a hint of this at the annual Hungarian Folk Festival in Budapest...[great warm feeling] but the thickness is greatly reduced due to the amount of energy that goes into creating an authentic yurt.

  • I see all kinds of images and videos and it seems no one ever mentions the size of the yurt. Not even the companies that sell them. What is the size of this yurt?

  • @XCritonX i think the pacific ones come with a 15 year warranty. but i know there are some older yurts than that around.

  • How long will a Yurt last? What is the maintenance schedule?

  • Yurt off the grid with satellite and a microwave!
