5.45 is cheap right now $145 per 1080rds, you will shoot it more. I am happy with my VZ-58 but you should probably get the AK-74 first. Do not buy a CAI Polish Tantal though, seious QC issues there.

listen, samopal vzor 58 is far more better gun than ak47 and also completly diferent, its has been independently developed.. you cant use ak clip on it.. its diferent gun..

@Jayho74 You're a fucking moron, of course it doesn't take AK mags, it's not a fucking AK. A mini 14 doesn't use AR15 magazines so does that mean it's bad? The VZ mags are cheaper for me, I bought 8 for $13 a piece, all my AK47 mags were $20-$25. At least the fucking bolt holds back, how fucking dump it doesn't hold back on AK47. let's talk about the weight, My VZ58 is 6.33lbs my Norinco AK was 8.3lbs, 2 lbs less. Even my AK74 from Arsenal is 1lb heavier.

This not a clone it is an entirely different rifle. Also this rifle originates in the late 1950, hence VZ-58. It is neither AK nor AR which is appealing. VZ-58 mags for $15 per are common enough you might have to search fir five minutes though.

Vz58 and ak47 same reliability, same bullet but not same mechanism.. I love all 7.62/39

I love my AKs but they are beaters for the most part, $1000 Arsenals are still just AKs. Buy a Romanian or Yugo and a piule of mags and keep the AKs as backups. I'd push you towards a 5.45 AK if you are determined to go the AK route.
