  • Nice job ! I hate when people leave guts on my huntting land . I quit letting people hunt it because of it .

  • It seems funny that you have to bury the innards.. We come back the next day and find nothing left in the woods because the critters eat it all up.. I guess we don't have that law where I'm at.

  • Is there a safge way to eat the innards? I really like cow and pig kidneys, tripe, chitlins etc, if you boil them are they safe?

  • This is very good information. I learned a lot. Thank you.

  • THANK YOU!!! Finally, there is a video that is actually informative and shows the correct way to do it minus the blade up. What about the spinchter area? I have seen that people actually cut a hole around it and remove it after they pull the innards down. This year is going to be my first year going by myself, when I was a young boy my grandfather would take me but I have forgotten how to actually do this.

  • I have the same ruger m77 mark II

  • Not a bad job. As the other guy said, should be working with sharp edge up when opening but he's comfy with his way and it works.

I have to wonder about the whole digging a hole to bury the guts though. Kind of silly considering two things:

    1) Wild animals (ie: fox, coyote) will dig it up and eat it

    and

    2) If you leave the gut pile exposed and go back 24 hours later, you won't find any evidence except maybe a bit of blood as "wild animals will eat the guts"

  • After looking at 10 other field dressing videos this was the best. Very good video, Thanks for posting it.

  • Now I have no doubt that he has taken more deer than I have, but after starting the hole isnt it just easier to turn the knife blade up so you dont puncture any nasty stuff? Plus I would rather pull the fur away from the meat than push it into it. Granted this is collections of clips from a full program so it is hard to pass judgement on such a small segment of what could be a very good series.

  • did you skip over cutting the sphincter area or just not do it?
