They are coming out with a Honda Fit Hybrid in 2010. It's supposed to be a little cheaper than the Civic and get more mpg. I like the Fit cause of the folding seats and hatchback for storage but it wasn't a hybrid.

I read recently that Honda has dropped the battery replacement cost down to like 2k and heard some people claim to get more than 100k miles on their battery before having to replace it. I now have just under 10k miles and I'm getting 46 mpg. That's driving mostly 65hwy and whatever speed limit it is on the streets. Honda is also coming out with 3 new hybrid models in like 2 years. The Fit will cost less than the Civic and may even surpass the MPG of 40/45 from what I'm hearing.

I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

The hyrid is not for everyone. You have to get the car for your needs like you said before. The regular honda civic get's around 33 mpg for like $7k cheaper. You really have to crunch numbers to see if it will pay off in the long run. Things to take into consideration are: Battery replacement is around $3k after 80k miles & you can't tow anything. Really cold weather & hills do factor in too. Do lots of research on-line with other owners to compare their likes and dislikes & test drive one.

thing is my dad who i carpool with has a little nissan with more horsepower than this hybrid and it still (to me) struggles gettin up and i dunno i just wanna be satisfied with the power not too much tho either im not tryna race...i also dont want the gas to dictate what car i buy

I have no problem accelerating onto the highway heck I drive around 50 miles to work on the interstate everyday. You can still pass other cars just like a regular car but if you're expecting to race forget it. It's like 0-60 in 10 seconds. Still worth it for the every rising cost of gas imo.

I wouldn't say its horrible but its a little ruff on the freeway...

it offers more controll
Why? automatic is way better.
think about it.
hybrid + automatic
or
non-hybrid + manual
kinda common sense..

I want one!!! This is one cool car, and with gas at 4.09 per gallon (soon to be 5.00), this seems like a great deal, except it would be better if leather seats and 4 wheel disk brakes were options =(
