In reading my owner's manual, I didn't see any indication to disassemble to clean before shooting. I've had mine apart and noticed that it's almost ready to take right out of the box and shoot.
One thing I did do, and highly recommend, is to run 1 patch of mild solvent and several dry patches through the barrel til dry, then dry swab the chamber just to ensure it's clear and free of any oils, etc. prior to shooting. No need to disassemble. Then, take it to the range! I hope that helps...

Hey, I just bought this rifle in .308, and after reading the manual I am a little confused. Do you have to pull the stock off the barrel and action and give it a complete cleaning before you shoot it for the first time, or are those instructions there for when you need to do that later on? This is my first centerfire rifle and I'm not to keen on pulling it apart before I ever even shoot it for fear of ruining it.

You wont be disapointed. I have one and couldn't be happier. Spend the money you saved from not buying a Savage or Mossberg and get some good glass.
Hint hint: Marlin XS7s in .308 like the light 150 and 147 grains better than 168s
you got a great deal on that gun. I have the same one but payed around $350 for it

@LocalLegends1 - Thanks! I bought this rifle within a year or so of their release on the market. I haven't priced them lately. How are you liking yours? What caliber did you select? ..... Thanks for watching and commenting.

may i ask whats up with the jacket? hellraiser fetish? just playing, only thing i could think of is maybe at free rest with your right arm maybe it gives your more stability, along wit your elbow not moving as much on your shooting mat? thanks in advanced! good shootin

@wyteboymagik - LOL, good one... The jacket gives better stability, absorbs pulse, pads the elbow for extended periods of shooting, absorbs some recoil, and as you stated helps plant and maintain elbow position on the shooting mat. In standing position, it helps give some added support... Thanks for watching and commenting.

it doesnt seem to have much recoil. i just baught this rifle and i am in the process of bedding and freefloating it.should be a real shooter.good choice of rifle for the price

I would be interested in learning how the results of your bedding and free-floating compares to the factory accurizing on these rifles, as they are pillared and have two contact points.
Good bedding work and free floating can sure release the full potential of a rifle. Let me know how it shoots... Thanks for watching and commenting.
