This video is an experiment - for I recorded the piano accompaniments first, and then recorded and videoed my playing of the vocal line on melodica over the recordings. I then matched the tracks up when editing the video. The alignment is not always absolutely perfect (and nor is the melodica playing). I am no fan of karaoke, whether vocal or instrumental - but at least this is all my own work. However, I guess the video gives an airing to these interesting pieces. Mascheroni (1855-1905) had an interesting career: he taught composition in Greece (Spyridon Samaras was a pupil), studied in Paris with Delibes and Saint-Saëns, and toured as pianist and conductor to Adelina Patti. As a composer he is remembered for sentimental songs (his ' "Eternamente" for voice and violin was sung by Caruso), but in these very well written vocalises, it is fascinating to see the odd touch of Verdian harmony.
The pieces are: 11- Allegro non troppo; 21- Andante espressivo; 23- Andante; 12- Andante espressivo.

Wonderful idea. The melodica has a natural delay in performance, so the outcome of this experiment is good in general and I hope to hear more of these experiments. The pieces are beautiful and you are doing a great job in exposing them before the wide audience.

@Babejuda Thanks. I have to work hard to keep the delay to a minimum - it comes in part from using a tube to play, and also from the time taken for the metal reeds to react!
