  • Here's a question for those who would consider an embryo a human life; if you were in a fertility clinic that was on fire, and there was a child in one corner and a tray of embryos in the other, and you could only save one, which would you save? Remember, if an embryo is a human life, you would be saving more human lives by saving the tray of embryos.

Also, if the issue is that they're "destroying life" why would they have a right to do that if they're not funded by the federal government?

  • he just misused the word 'moot'..

Branding my argument as a "red herring" is not a counterargument. Try something a little more real.

  • @violinista53

Lastly, philosophy can only go so far, and politics are useless. They aren't qualified to make technical decisions. What did I say that isn't a "fact" about an embryo? Please tell me, for everything I said is factual about the embryo.

Do you even know the difference between a zygote and an embryo?

  • @violinista53

Did I say zygote violinista? No, I said an "embryo." There is a difference. A zygote is when the human starts to get an adaptive feel for it's environment and starts to metabolize products. Like I said before, an "embryo" isn't even considered an "organism." It's considered a community of cells. Also, I diddn't claim that sperm was a human. I was illustrating how fucked up my opponent's logic was.

  • @evilnomad111 Have you ever taken a biology class? You have got it all wrong. This stuff is covered in middle school. Science has a pretty specific definition of life that applies just fine to the zygote. Which is human, of course, since it has human DNA. Your sperm is a component, not a complete and distinct human individual. Look, I'm not here to be your science tutor -- my point is that your definitions have more to do with politics and philosophy than they do with any actual facts.

  • @HiddenFacedMatt Saving life is not a numbers game. You want to send everybody off on a meaningless red herring that is nothing more than a distraction.

I don't think they have that right. But if we can't get it made illegal, then the least we can do is not support it with our money.

  • cryogenically stored cords are definitely the way to go.. thus saving the unborn fetus

  • @otnuts

An embryo isn't "alive." It is a collection, or a clump of cells that is comprised of 150 cells. It has no neurons, it holds no physical, cognitive, or ethical capabilities. Can it become a human? Yes it can. IS it a human? No it isn't. It's just as alive as my sperm is. So if we were to go by your logic, my girlfriend is committing infantacide everytime she swallows.

  • inflict americans? not just any humans? oh I see so this is politically motivated, not out of compassion for human life okay. great job fuckabee
