If skunks are tame they don't bite. My skunks are accustomed to me and to other people, they are lovable. They don't give any problems except sometimes with the use of the toilet, I mean, they aren't as clean as cats....

Are they still smelly even after their scent glands are removed?

No, my skunks are not smelly. Of course, they sometimes need a bath. I have now 3 baby skunks and they aren't descented yet. They have never sprayed because they are tame, they aren't wild skunks.
