The Mebo 2 (former home of Radio Nordsee International) with
test transmissions in English from the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Libya in International Waters - July 1977.
The audio was from 6205 Khz short wave - the same channel used when the Mebo 2 was anchored in the North Sea.

  • This was taped from a short wave broadcast, or so it sounds. Later the MEBO II was sunk in the Mediterranean Sea by the Libyan Navy, as it and the MEBO had been acquired for their target practices...Rather sad ending.

  • You can still listen to RNI on the net. rni (dot) net (dot) ms will take you to the site to find the music feed. It is great and still has the unique sound of RNI

  • I grew up listening to RNI, and it made me kind of sad to hear this recording but at the same time it was nice,, fantastic tribute to some real unsung heros of the day
