In this video I give my thoughts on what characterization entails, why I think Luffy is a flawed protagonist, and why I think Oda is a mediocre writer.

  • HAHAHAH "Nerd Nigga" hahaha, your the man!

  • @RedAxel17 He didn't become friends with Whitebeard and he barely acknowledged Law as anything as of yet there has been no confirmation that Luffy and Law are rivals or have a relationship like Luffy and Coby. As for Whitebeard, Luffy respected Whitebeard only because Ace respected him and Luffy realized that Whitebeard was extremely strong and Whitebeard only protected Luffy during the war because he saw that Luffy was determined to save Ace and that Luffy had potential for the future.

  • @opnarutofan117 But he did become friends with Jinbei, Ivankov, Whitebeard(he protected whitebeard from crocodile) and I'm sure he considers Law a friendly rival.

  • @RedAxel17 Well it is understandable that Luffy didn't become close friends with Crocodile but he barely acknowledged Crocodile as an ally when they were in Marineford, even when Crocodile protected Luffy. Not all of the Pirates that Luffy meets pose a threat to him Pirates like Trafalgar Law, Whitebeard's crew, Jinbe, Ivankov, Buggy (to an extent) and many more don't pose a threat to Luffy or the Straw Hats.

  • @opnarutofan117 But Luffy is not going to make friends with Crocodile because of the whole Vivi situation in Alabasta, and most of the pirates he meets are a threat so of course he's not going to make friends with them.

  • @Firefist40 Care to elaborate on why you believe that?

  • @TheGloryXros The Dub made Goku mature a lot more then he did in the Japanese version which I liked the Dub for that. An adult Childish Goku is just weird. Goku changed most when he started to take Gohan and Vegeta seriously. (cell saga / Buu saga) then in GT he was angry all the time as a SSJ4 but not Vegeta angry. Just pissed like he was when he fought Freeza as a SSJ1. Goku 'grew up' in a way.

  • Dude, no offense, but you sound very petty and conceited, just saying. Not bashing or trolling or whatever, just saying.

  • @hotwhire Naruto has a lot more to his character than you think because unlike Ichigo he grows as a character he always has ever since the series started especially in Shippuden. He grows in maturity and has the depth to think logically at the worst of times and combats the difference between world peace and hatred and conflict numerous times. I do agree though Ichigo is a very static character i don't know if Orihime has more depth to her character but Rukia definitely has more depth.

  • @RedAxel17 But what is odd about Luffy not being friends with villains is that he is a Pirate himself and yet he makes enemies of Pirates instead of befriending them. The only Pirates that Luffy has ever befriended/made a sort of comrade of, is with Crocodile (and even then they were barely comrades), Buggy, Trafalgar Law, Jinbe, Ivankov, Mr. 3/Gadino, and Mr. 2/Bon Clay. And even then some of those relationships were shallow and fake.
