The Plextortion is a distortion pedal that was originally designed to emulate a JCM800 with Celestion greenbacks (Back in Black era AC/DC tones through Van Halen, Dokken, Ratt, and all those amazing 80's rock "cranked Marshall" tones). It has a very 'brown' sounding distortion, a bit similar to the Wampler Pinnacle pedal. Available at JetCityMusic.com.

  • David playing GnR = Mind blown! Holy smokes, man! I have been longing for a Plexi style pedal for a while, too. So far, it's between this and the Lovepedal. The Celestial Effects Virgo can get that sound, but it's more it's own style. I want something specifically designed around the Marshall crunch.

  • @shango02005 Check out the Wampler Plexi-drive and Pinnacle too because they also do the Marshall thing very well! I've got a new demo done on the Plexi-drive and should be posted soon... it's classic JTM45 Angus Young tones all day long!

  • @manu696 Thanks, I actually went with the Plexitone... pretty bitchin.

  • @JWcolour i have both of them... prefer the carl martin. much more articulated and much less fuzzy.... the gain on the plexitone doesn´t go so far, but its a better pedal. go 4 carl martin... cheers

  • Plz do a plexitone demo!!

  • How does this stack up with the Carl Martin Plexitone?

  • @Giggity230

The 'Brown Sound' is a term used to define Eddie Van Halen's guitar sound. Listen to Van Halen's running with the devin, hot for teacher or any other older Van Halen song and you'll hear it. A lot of equipment these days either tries to get the 'brown sound' or may just have the ability to get it, hence the reference.

  • can u please define what "brown" sounding distortion means :S?
