National Essay Contest, Deadline Extended.
The new deadline is now April 4th, 2008.
40th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King, Jr.
United Black Fund of American, Inc., invites all youth, in school, 14 - 18 years old, to join a competition in solving the pernicious, problem of violence.
Winning entries will be posted on the United Black Fund's website for all to view and use.
Let's get ready to walk the walk.
And the essay contest is an excellent idea. I hope that this video gets around and children throughout the Metro area respond, providing insight and possible solutions to this problem of violence. Good luck to all and remember, inspiration can come from anywhere.

The community, as a whole, must come together to protect its future... and the future lies in the hearts, minds and souls of the children. Working together, we can change the way things are... but minds and hearts must open and uplifted... people have to know that there are people who care and people who will do right by them and by their community.

I couldn't agree more. The destruction of the urban community through senseless violence is an abomination. To take from children their childhood, their innocence... is reprehensible. Something must be done, and it must start with this younger generation.
