What about "Poor Unfortunate Souls"? Didn't you think that was a kick-ass villain song?

Beauty and the Beast is just as dysfunctional as some of the aspects of LIttle Mermaid. Think Stockholm syndrome. I like Ariel, though yes she acts rashly. Her relationship with her dad is more complicated than you give credit and drives the plot quite a lot. The story depends on the viewer assuming things like "love at first sight" are reasonable based on a Disney history of such stories. Also Esmeralda IS a super badass character who doesn't get enough credit if any at all for being awesome.

I can see all the points you are making, but I think you are taking this movie WAY to seriously. This review reminds me of a review I saw for Beauty and the Beast (2nd favorite Disney movie) that said it taught young girls to "fix" abusive, controlling, and bipolar men. I had that movie memorized and I did not marry an abusive, controlling or bipolar man. I would be really interested to hear a review on the Jungle Book. Talk about whinny and ungrateful.
