A while back I did a video on relaxing the bottom hand to get more spin on your tennis backhand.

I also want you to be able to drive the ball. To do this we are going to take a page out of a guy like Robin Soderling's book that you can incorporate into your tennis training backhand.

The trick is to take your top hand the grip at the end of the shot.

Try taking your top hand off during your tennis training backhand days.

You might be surprised how easy it is to drive the with this simple tip.

Taking the hand off also allows your hands and body to relax when the top hand comes off.

Even try switching between taking your bottom hand off, for more spin, and your top hand, to help you drive the ball, during you tennis training backhand session.

This will allow you to get use to switching off between getting more spin and driving the ball during your tennis training backhand.

  • Consider how taking your hand off after the ball has left the contact point makes you drive through it more. Im not sure Ive ever seen someone hit the ball on the follow through.

  • What are you talking about with Robin Soderling? There are no videos on YouTube that ever show him letting go of the racket. Perhaps you are mistaking his recovery for his follow through.
