In this video on www.artistshousemusic.org, Nashville Drummer John Toomey shows how to play 5 way independence on the drumset. This is a groove in 6/8 derived from the Afro-Cuban Bembe rhythm. The video is compliments of Steve Stokes of Stoked Studios.
My kids asked me who I took to my senior prom and I said "john toomey, he played drums. I think we find him on youtube"...and sure enough here you are and now my kids think I am really really cool.

I wish all drummers were this talented, but like most musicians, everyone wants to play but no one wants to practise.
Great job Mr. Toomey.
