In designing an automotive suspension we would like one that is both comfortable and handles well. These are two competing objectives. Here we simulate a quarter-car suspension model and animate it using MATLAB. We then perform multi-objective optimization (two different ways) to generate a Pareto set, a curve that quantifies the tradeoff between comfort and handling.
