ITS BACK! The annual Silverline Power Tools Drag Racing Championship will be held at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Somerset on the 25th and 26th September 2010. Its set to be a weekend of high octane fuelled action!

2010 is the fifth year of this hugely popular event and this year is set to be bigger and better than ever before! Last year, special guests The Gadget Show of channel 5 and Team High Output who flew in from America attended the event.

Great fun for the whole family, the weird and wonderful sport of power tool drag racing involves engineering power tools into drag racing mean machines. There are two main classes within the event, ridden funny car and non ridden. The ridden funny car will take place on an outside track at the rear of the museum on the Yeovilton runway. The non ridden side of the event will take place on the inside track underneath Concorde! The inside race is split into three categories (stock, modified and super modified) and involves the use of smaller power tools such as belt sanders, angle grinders, drills and even circular saws.

Why not build your very own power tool drag racer and take part in this years event? You can enter on your own or get a team together. The indoor drag racers are really easy to make, in particular, the stock class requires hardly any work at all. If you are feeling brave you can enter the modified and super modified classes, and if you have a real passion for engineering why not have a go at making your very own funny car.

In addition to the power tool Drag Racing, visitors to the Museum will also witness a battle for robot supremacy as the Robo Challenge teams will be battling it out in their survival of the fittest robot. Meanwhile, outside on the runway, Dragster driver Dave Grumpy Wilson will be warming the tyres of his 3,500BHP FIA Champion Dragster which has a recorded top speed of 265mph.
