the lady of shalott (laundry room session)

go easy on me guys, the bminor chord on the uke is no joke (see also: I wrote this song on the piano).

and this: the meaning.

I was reading tennyson's poem, and to sum it up, this girl falls hard for lancelot. he loves her back...until he doesn't. she ends up dead of a broken heart on the side of the river. And then there's Elaine of Astelot (I once was in a dance where I played the nymph who led her into the river. A NYMPH. how cool is that? but, I digress). This chick fell for Lancelot, too. Player broke her heart (I see a pattern, Lancelot...ladies, beware). She ended up dead in a boat, trying to get to Camelot to be with her love.

So I decided I do not want to be like those girls. Not a tough choice, considering I'd rather not die near a river anytime soon. But really, I want to be okay, even if a guy--or anyone else, for that matter--isn't nearby to tell me so.

and that's what the song is about.

and one more thing: I am wearing hot pink bike shorts while recording this song. and now you know.
