Our Engagement

7/21/05 -- Laurie is by chance my waitress at Ruby Tuesdays while I am doing an internship at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, MD.

4/20/07 -- I told her I was coming down for the weekend and left NY around 1230, which means that I should be down in MD about 630. After getting stuck in some traffic on the way I told her that I was going to stop at her parents to say hi. Well little did she know that I had asked them about a week ago if I could take them to dinner, and at dinner I asked for their permission to ask Laurie. She was pissed at me for getting to SMC late (around 1230), but she forgave me when she realized that I had brought her best friend Julie with me from Jersey. She didn't get off of work until 9, so that's the other reason it took so long.

4/21/07 -- She wasn't able to get off work so Julie and I went and sat at the bar to keep her company. At around 8ish some of her friends from school came to the bar to have some drinks as well. She was busy making drinks and doing her bartending thing when I asked her to come out from behind the bar. She initially told me no because she thought I was going to throw something at her, or put ice down her back. I finally convinced her to walk out from behind the bar and at that moment she realized all of her co-workers and bosses are standing around us and her friends have come to stand with them and Julie had a video camera. I took her hands and said, "I met you here almost 2 years ago, and I've known since then that you were the girl I was going to marry, so it only seems fitting that I ask you here...Will you marry me?"

Through a HUGE smile and some happy tears she said YES. Her boss gave us a bottle of champagne and told her to end her shift early so that we could go out and celebrate.
