Spent the afternoon having a picnic at the Blackhawk Forest Preserve outside Elgin, Illinois. The picnic area features a trolley platform that is the end of the line for the Fox River Trolley Museum. The museum operates trolley cars, interurbans, and ex-CTA rapid transit equipment along a 3.5-mile remnant of the old Aurora, Elgin and Fox River Electric Company interurban line along the Fox River. The rest of the route (including the bridge that once carried AE&FRE trains across the river) has been converted into a bike trail.
We were late getting to the picnic area. As a result, I only got shots of one train (former Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee #715) coming and going from the platform before the trains shut down for the day.
The museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from June through September.
Awesome!!!
