For the second year in a row, the U.S. Embassy in Skopje joined the global celebration of Daniel Pearl World Music Days with a concert of "The Reporters," a band of journalists from Macedonia, who played on the evening of October 25 at the popular spot near Mother Teresa Monument in the center of Skopje. Many citizens, including a large number of journalists came out to watch Mile, Zarko, Borjan, Petrit and Stojan as they performed familiar songs, but also premiered a song of their own, named Freedom, energizing the audience and making the point loud and clear of the importance of free press in a democratic society. PAO Angela Aggeler introduced The Reporters, stating that freedom of the press requires courage as well as the pursuit of truth and the embrace of integrity. She noted that Danny Pearl was dedicated to these values as well as the understanding that music in our lives raises our spirits and inspires our souls.
